CircleCI has put Functions into beta: reusable CI steps shipped as compiled, tested programs with declared inputs, pinned to exact versions and discoverable through the CircleCI CLI and its MCP server. The pitch is that a coding agent can validate a setup step before it pushes instead of finding out in a failed pipeline.
